Lighten Up

We’re attempting to lighten up for Spring, but no one sent the memo to Mother Nature yet. We’re in that slump of trying desperately to stay positive, when all you want to do is shake your fists menacingly at the sky and lack of sun.

Finding jackets that are stylish and inexpensive is no easy feat, especially when you’re trying to stay on trend. Today we’re discussing two different jackets that should be a staple in your wardrobe. You’ll reach for these again and again (or at least we will).

When we happened across this cream biker jacket from Asos, it was pretty much a no brainer. I think I sent it to Caitlin and we decided it would be a great birthday present within a matter of minutes.

This pretty piece is also currently on sale for GASP only $33 dollars. It doesn’t get any better than that. Going beyond the typical black biker jacket, this a super easy neutral piece to layer. Caitlin added a favorite color of ours, army green or khaki as it’s known in other parts of the world underneath and voila! You’re done and looking good.

She can’t stop and shouldn’t stop with these Gap jeans. A lot of people only stick to dark denim, but as you can see, the mid-wash is super versatile as well.

You’ll see us re-mixing and matching a bunch of pieces over and over again from our closets. We plan to show you clothes we actually wear, and wear multiple times, because we GET IT. You don’t necessarily have a massive budget for clothes shopping, we also have to eat, pay rent/mortgages, and live!

So on that note, we’ve got the black flats again. No one is going to bat an eye about you re-wearing your fav flats over and over again!

Another versatile jacket that you’ll find stocked every year in some variation is a utility jacket. Army green/Khaki has practically become a neutral as well and this is an easy casual option to keep in your closet. Not to mention, Old Navy is clutch for coupon codes and discounts, so you’re sure to get it for a reasonable price!

I have an affinity for blouses that go far in my closet (you might sense a reoccurring theme here). This cream Express blouse is a winner because it’s fancy enough to wear to work, but as witnessed here, doesn’t look strange worn with jeans and a canvas jacket!

Another flats option is leopard print (we’re about consistency here people). Leopard flats are a must, as they are one of our favorite timeless prints and you’ll end up reaching for them again and again!

The jeans are another find from Express. The distressing on them is subtle enough that your family might NOT ask you if you actually paid for holes in your jeans but enough where you feel stylish. Though they are listed as skinny, they have almost a straight leg vibe at the ankle and don’t hug tightly. Depending on if you’re a small tall or more my height at 6’4; you might even be able to cuff them with booties!

Sound off below, what have been some great jackets for you? What do you reach for over and over again and do you choose quantity of options or do you just appreciate one quality jacket?
