Long Tall Sally One Piece Wonder

Good Morning all. Feels like such an odd start to the week with hearing the news about Kobe Bryant, his daughter and 7 other peoples’ passing in a helicopter crash. In my case, it really makes me reflect on life and truly how it can be gone in a flash. I think it’s even worse to see the two daughters’ lives cut so short. They will never be able to fulfill their dreams. Sorry to be maudlin about any of this, but I know a lot of people are feeling the same way. It takes you by surprise to be affected by a celebrity passing away. Point being, death is the great equalizer and none of us are getting out alive. Are you living how you want to live?

If you’re not, now is the time to start. Time will pass anyway, and you can never get it back. That’s how I felt about starting this blog. I thank God Caitlin came alongside me and shared my dreams and we can work together. I don’t take it for granted that I have a sister who I’m lucky enough to get along with and work together with even when it’s not easy. We still get overjoyed by your messages of thanks or questions on our opinions. We’re grateful to you as well for finding value in what we’re doing here.

It also makes me think back about the evolution of my so-called style before starting this blog, along with my reluctance to have anyone seeing us getting our pictures taken. I just can’t bring myself to be bothered anymore. When we were in Charleston last week, plenty of people were passing by while we were getting these pictures. Plus, when we were out in Milwaukee, it was the middle of the day and people were everywhere. At the moment I’m tempted to think of myself as vapid and self-involved, even knowing I don’t take any joy from posing for pictures. Instead, I think of our community of tall women who appreciate the pictures and feedback on sizing/styling to apply for themselves.

Along with that mindset shift of taking pictures, is the realization that your style can be whatever makes you happy. Do you want to rock those heels?? Girl, nobody can tell you otherwise. For me, I’ve just bought the lie that I couldn’t rock the same trends as shorter women. For two reasons. The first being they don’t come in my size, and the second being they don’t work on my frame. If you’re athletic like me, that might resonate with you. Even if you’re shaped differently, I’m sure you might feel that way about other trends as well, which stops you from even trying them!

I’ve long admired full denim boilersuits. There is something so appealing about them to me. So when we partnered with Long Tall Sally to share some of their spring new arrivals, you better believe I was ecstatic to receive their latest take on the denim boilersuit. Jumpsuits in all iterations are the epitome of chic to me. We’ve got the long legs that look endless when executed correctly in a jumpsuit. Plus you throw on the one piece (like a dress) but can really do all because they’re still pants and easy to move in. Talk about feeling confident, when you don’t have to sacrifice movement for looking good.

This boilersuit is a size 12, and I’d say it fits true to size. I maybe could have gotten away with the 10, as I’m between 10/12 normally but I’d rather have some extra space as it doesn’t have stretch to it. The proportions are a perfect fit for my 6’4 length. I don’t have the drop crotch look that inevitably shortens your frame. Plus the leg cut is a straight leg, so it continues to skim your body for a very flattering shape. I wore it with a lace turtleneck underneath that I’ve had for a few years. I loved the idea of super feminine lace with the utility vibe of the jumpsuit. To finish it off, I added some killer ankle boots to tie the burnt orange together. This is one stand out piece I can confidently stand tall in. I can’t wait to wear this re-styled in other ways.

Big thanks to Long Tall Sally for outfitting tall women in well-fitting, on-trend styles for 44 years.
