Rompers are a sore subject with tall women, amirite?! We just want to rock these one-piece wonders like everyone else, without a cameltoe or our buttcheeks hanging out everywhere. Amalli Talli shows up as a champion for us yet again! It’s like they’re reading our minds. Last year they came up with the best sleeveless romper, see the blue Laguna romper here (if you’re lucky enough to be shopping for a size XS this one’s for you). This year we were really hoping for a sleeved version, and to no one’s surprise, our dream came true with the Seychelles Romper!

You might be wondering if the fit could work on both 5’11 and 6’4. Amalli Talli nailed it by having the elastic waistband. It creates the blousing effect that you can either pull up to sit at your natural waist or it can stretch long and lay flatter for extra length. No tugging down as you go either, which is sometimes the effect when you force a romper to work on your length. Plus the waistband serves a double purpose. It both flatters and draws attention to your waistline while also still smoothing that area because of the way the fabric skims.

The fabric has a terry cloth feel to it and does have some stretch. It is made a bit more casual by the barely discernible white flecking in the fabric. The fabric is lightweight but still thick enough to not feel flimsy! The bottom line, we’d still be confident wearing it out to dinner but also rocking it as a coverup on our way down to the beach/pool. The leg holes are cut generously which has been a dealbreaker for us. If it sticks to our thighs, it’s not sticking in our closets! Think of a culotte type cut that won’t hug close to your butt or thighs but skim over both.

Another detail is; although it has sleeves it doesn’t have the “feel” of a sleeve. They are a fluttery style that falls directly over your arms because it’s cut to correctly fit your shoulders. That is also an underrated part to note. We are typically concerned with our shoulders fitting into clothing as well as arms sometimes. This is ideal for anyone who might also struggle. It flatters your arms by not squeezing but instead laying gently.

As for the neckline, we know v necks are one of the most widely flattering! Not to mention it helps out any nursing moms for easier access. Some other rompers we have bought in the past have been very difficult to finagle your way in/out. We’re happy to report we can shimmy in and out with no issues, so you can too! You can wear a cami underneath if you’d like to feel more covered up or if you want to pin it so it stays closed that’s an option.

For sizing, I’m wearing in a medium, and Caitlin went with the large. The Seychelles romper is a clear winner, and I think we speak for tall women everywhere when we say the only improvement could be more colors! Don’t forget this is the last week for 15% off your purchase using THEREALTALL15.

Most of us collectively pressed pause on business as usual last week. Our country reached a tipping point and change began to occur in a lot of us. We were happy to be silent and let our black counterparts be heard. I got the chance to reflect on what I have known over the years and what I can improve upon. I think the summation of our feelings is, as Christians, we do not believe this to be about anything remotely political. If you choose to take it as such, we can’t stop you, but know our hearts lay making sure any black people we encounter experience nothing but love/support from us.

With that said, we are still here to share tall fashion finds with you. We had planned to share these shorts this last week with you, but now we’re another week closer to Summer which makes them even more relevant and probably needed! Over the last couple of years, Caitlin and I found ourselves buying linen fabric for the first time. It gets a bad rap for being easily wrinkled and some might say disheveled. To that, we politely say, we disagree!

Yes, it does wrinkle, but there is an artful look about said wrinkling. It gives us a bohemian flare, which is exactly the look I’d strive for on those hot summer nights. Plus if you compare with jean shorts, linen will keep you much more cool at those outdoor gatherings where you’re baking in the sun as you scarf down a hotdog and try to keep watermelon from dripping down the front of you.

We’ve also long been proponents of the “midi” short length. When Amalli announced their Spring/Summer collection and their linen short inseam was 5 inches, we swooned in delight! I know some women delight in showing off as much of their mile-long stems as possible, but we prefer to feel a bit more covered. These linen shorts are going to make you look appropriate for everywhere, including if you have a corporate gathering and are bemoaning your work-friendly outfit options. No constant tugging to make sure everything is covered and having to choose between your crack or your bottom of your butt cheeks.

They tie with a drawstring and hit about mid-rise on us, so below the belly button. Caitlin styled hers with a basic white tee shirt and some chic white sandals. Of course, she had to bring her Hollis Amalli denim jacket for night time temperature drops. We will never shut up about this denim jacket until every tall girl discovers the magic for herself. You deserve a jean jacket that fits your proportions this well and has enough stretch in it to never feel restricted.

I styled mine as if I was going to a get together (which I did wear to celebrate our Dad’s birthday)! Had to elevate the look with some statement sleeve drama and these perfect statement earrings we won from Amalli Talli after Caitlin shared the story of cutting her own bangs and consequently having to wear a headband for the entire school year because she cut it all the way to the scalp trying to fix it. So thanks for her experiences and me getting to rock these chic earrings since she can’t wear them!

So if that wasn’t enough, they also released a second color of this same linen pair. So if you prefer brighter looks, they have them in coral as well! But really, if you like the versatility grab both of them for your rotation! Caitlin is wearing size XL and I went with the Large. We’d say it’s basically a comfort thing. You won’t get a ton of stretch out of the shorts but if you like some breathing room for your thighs you can size up. As a reminder, we’re both between a 10/12 for bottoms! You can always ask us any additional questions if you need help with sizing. We’re happy to help.

This is the last week we get to share our coupon code with you, so if you’ve been eyeing up some Summer items, now is the time to grab them! THEREALTALL15 for 15% off and it is one-time use!
