Good Morning, and welcome to another Monday. Not sure about you, but in Milwaukee this weekend we were blessed with some seriously idyllic Fall weather. The leaves are hitting their peak colors, and it is spectacular! Plus we had a chance to shoot with a photographer visiting from France, so that was a fun way to be outside enjoying the weather as well. To top it off, the beer that Caitlin and my Dad brewed for me was ready to be bottled, so we finished that on Sunday afternoon. Now I just have to anxiously wait a week to taste my Hazy IPA!

We’ve been posting a ton of Amalli Talli items recently, and it’s for good reason. They have never done this big of a drop before. Plus, we’re not even done!! We’re still coming with the second tier of the drops, which include the jean jacket, the moto leggings, AND jeans! Talk about being SPOILED. We can’t tell you how many incredible conversations we’ve had recently with other tall women who are thrilled to have these new items that fit our bodies correctly.

But before we get to sharing those new items we’ve got to keep showing you the versatility of their collections. Somehow they’re managing to bring us pieces that are both classics, but still on-trend. That’s one of the tenets of our style. We don’t want to get rid of pieces after one season. Ideally, everything will last us until it wears out. A good way of realizing if you’re buying the right items is the hanger test. Turn your hangers around backward and only turn them the right way if you wear the item. If you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it!

Make sure you take a look at why you didn’t wear it. Is it too short? Did you size up to get more length out of it?  A lot of pieces I get rid of are things I bought in a mainline size because I wanted to fit in, or it’s cheaper. But I’m not exactly saving money if I buy an ill-fitting garment and never wear it, am I? When trying clothing on, I am either with Caitlin or send her a picture. A second opinion from someone you trust is invaluable. They’ve probably heard you complain about fit or preference before. So then they can act as a sounding board and help you thoughtfully question your purchase.

All of this to say, you need smart purchases that will last you! Sometimes the least “glamorous” purchases have the best-staying power in our closets. You can’t underestimate layering pieces, as evidenced by this favorite crew tank. Crew tanks have long been a favorite of mine because they’re modest aka work appropriate. Give me one in a pop of color like the cobalt blue here, and I can make dozens of outfits happen.

You saw Caitlin dress this tank down here, so that’s already two ways to style it. Plus the tall girl approved length and torso width are perfectly proportioned for our comfort. The material is just structured enough but doesn’t box you into wearing only dressier clothes. As with their other items, they really thought through all of the details when designing this piece. No more “tall girl-friendly” items needed when we have these layering pieces available to us!

So if you haven’t made a purchase yet, we can only assume it’s because you know once you try their items you know you can never go back! Luckily we’ve got 15% off for you to sweeten the deal. Use THEREALTALL15 and let us know what you buy and how much you love it!

I am hot and fresh off of vacation today and dragging because of it. You may have seen some stories from Canada and I can’t wait to share more on that trip so for this sweater today I will literally share just a tiny bit more! Jenilee already gave you the long low down on this leopard beauty here, but I couldn’t resist throwing in my two cents as well. Y’all I love this sweater, like really truly love it. I have recently been thinking about a lot of items that really and truly make me feel amazing.

I don’t know if it was the influx of tall clothing I have recently received or purchased that made me truly take a look at how things are fitting me. But I feel like I have been shown the light (again). I have had this realization many times but sometimes it just needs to hit you again, maybe harder this time. Whatever it was, it inspired me to go through my clothing yet again and set aside all of the items that fit anything less than perfect. And by that, I mean that I am 100% comfortable in. Can I move my arms, does my back feel tight, is it too short, do I need to roll the sleeves up to wear it? If the answer was no…sayonara sucker. But actually I just set aside the high-quality pieces that have a lot of life left for an upcoming blogger consignment shop. Stay tuned for more details on this!

Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of this sweater. I feel like a broken record talking about how amazing this line is, but it’s so deserving of the kind words and praise. They made the back roomy, the sleeves long, the fabric soft, the quality high. They missed nothing! The soft brown, black and white make this one of the most versatile sweaters you will own. It matches literally any and every pair of shoes in my closet.

I have worn this casually with jeans, I have worn it to work with this striped skirt for a little bit of print mixing, I have done black jeans, Jenilee did black faux leather leggings. The opportunities to wear this are literally endless. As the weather dips you can add their amazing moto jacket over the top or perhaps their new denim jacket! And by now I can confirm that as long as you follow their instructions it will wash up like a champ. Some sweaters can’t hang in the wash but of course, this one can!

To reiterate from my Instagram story (Which you can watch all of our try ons in our Amalli Talli Highlight) I am 5’11 and am in the Medium here. I would highly recommend getting your true to size, there is a lot of give, so it’s super comfortable! And I just really want to stress that I have a lot of extra space in the sleeves so if you are taller this will still fit you like an absolute dream!

As a reminder, you can also read about the oatmeal duster here, the striped sweater here, the crew tanks here, the moto jacket here and another post on this leopard sweater here. And if we haven’t convinced you that you need at least one of these items yet to sweeten the pot: use our code THEREALTALL15 for 15% off your entire purchase!!

It’s a good Monday for both of us, mainly because neither of us is at work today. I (Jenilee) have Columbus day off as a holiday so I’m in Philadelphia on a twin trip. Caitlin took today and tomorrow off because she’s in Banff Canada for a long weekend. I’ve been seeing all of these glorious pictures of Banff recently because another blogger we follow is there this weekend (Liz Adam’s of Hello Adams Family). It looks incredible with a fresh dusting of snow. I think Caitlin is hoping that some of it will melt though because it will make hiking a bit more challenging with snow on the ground. But regardless, we’ll be sharing her trip guide later this week if anyone is interested. I know we have had a couple of people message us regarding hiking gear in the past. Hopefully, this will cover some of those questions!

It’s an even better Monday because we have another delicious sweater to share from Amalli Talli today! We shared the leopard print sweater last week. Plus we’re showing it remixed tomorrow on Caitlin! While we adore it, we totally recognize that animal print might not be your thing. So today, we’ve got this fun striped option that you can get excited about instead!

We love that the stripes are bold colors, the marigold, rust, and navy blue allow for some incredible options for mixing and matching. It’s also great that they are large stripes and they don’t cover the entire sweater. Sometimes, I get stripe fatigue when my shirt is completely striped. Weird, I know! Then I end up not wearing that shirt because of it. So I definitely won’t have to worry about that with this piece.

As with the other items we received from Amalli Talli, this is a size Medium. It’s a generous cut and is made to look slouchier/more like an over-sized look. That’s how we love to wear our sweaters all Winter long in the Midwest. The more wrapped up, the better. Plus this one has a turtleneck, which I live for as well! If you typically shy away from turtlenecks because they make your neck feel suffocated, I do want to mention that it doesn’t suction against your skin. It grazes it and has that same slouchy fit. Caitlin feels like that a lot with turtlenecks and she likes this way A LOT better.

The sleeves are always such a beautiful length with Amalli Talli’s pieces and this sweater is no exception. Without stretching it out whatsoever, you can pull the sleeves right over the top of your hands. That’s pure happiness right there! Even as I write this, I’m wearing a regular sweater from Old Navy (not tall sized) in a size medium. I have to wear it ¾ length sleeves because it stops 4 inches from my wrist. I wish I were exaggerating! But this sweater is inspiring me to get rid of the ill-fitting garments that I’ve made do with up until now.

Caitlin wanted to show it worn casually and was inspired to make it a 70’s vibe. She grabbed her pair of flare jeans she has from Gap. Her inseam is 35’ and they just hit the ground on her while she’s wearing flats. So anyone with a longer inseam, probably avoid this pair. For another option for longer inseams, I just reviewed a pair I won from All Tall Things Co. You can check them out here! They work really nicely on my 38’ inseam.

One more time for anyone who has missed it. Use THEREALTALL15 for 15% off your purchase! We’re very excited to be able to share that code with you and save you a few dollars. These products are all so high quality, that you will definitely be getting your money’s worth!

We’ll just keep this short and sweet today! Everyone needs layers in their life. Especially in our current weather. You wake up in the morning and need a jacket to comfortably go outside, but by the time you leave work, you firmly don’t need a jacket. The sun is still doing a great job of warming it up during the day, for us to have a comfortable afternoon/evening. While we’d love to just plan for a one-season type of day where it’s consistent; it’s just not realistic.

That’s where layers come in. Having the appropriate pieces you can wear as bases in your wardrobe is a must. I’ve caught myself searching my closet high and low to find the right top to wear underneath a cardigan or a jacket. They’re probably the unsung heroes of your closet if we’re being honest!

Plus if they’re well-fitting, it makes them that much easier to reach for repeatedly. That is definitely the case with Amalli Talli’s crew neck layering tanks! We’re constantly searching for pieces we can pair with our skirts for work wear. It’s a bigger task than you might think because it has to be the right length to comfortably tuck in. You guessed it, a lot of other retailers don’t quite fit the bill on that end.

Another thing I get picky about with shells is where the armpit hole cuts in. If you’re ever planning to wear it alone, you don’t really want that pinch between the edge of the top and your armpit. It’s uncomfortable, and not flattering. Plus, I’ve experienced too many short armpit holes rubbing on my armpit all day for my comfort. If you go the other way, sometimes you’re exposing your bra because the armpit is too droopy. We feel like Goldilocks, because the armpits on this tank, are jusstttt right.

We got this tank in size medium. We do feel it’s true to size; however, if you have a bigger bust you might want to consider sizing up for that. Amalli Talli always has the best jewel tone color palette, so this tank is available in red or blue! Caitlin styles it with one of her favorite mini skirts from Gap. Who says gingham can’t be worn in Fall as well? Plus she added our new favorite jacket, the moto jacket from Amalli Talli that we debuted yesterday on the blog. If you missed it and want to see it on me (Jenilee 6’4) then check yesterday’s post here.

I’m sure you have it memorized by now, but we’ve got a 15% discount code for you to use if you’ve been eyeing up any of their new items. Use THEREALTALL15 to snag any of their ridiculously good layering pieces! Check out the leopard print sweater here, the duster here, the cardigan here, and the moto jacket here! Guarantee you won’t regret your purchase.

We were pretty light on posts last week, but we’re making up for it this week by posting every day of the week! It’s a marathon of goodness because it means we’re trying to share all the new finds with you asap. All of our favorite retailers are dropping the best items, we just “need” in our closet. Fall fashion might be one of the most exciting times of the year to shop.

I’m a little biased because my birthday is in November, so I get excited about picking out birthday gifts as well. Every year I try to think of the items I don’t necessarily like to spend the money on for myself. I know we all have our quirks like that. Things that we admire and maybe just don’t feel justified in spending the money on. It might be a more frivolous item that you can’t see yourself wearing as extensively as other items. More likely for me, is the cost. I have a dollar threshold in my mind, and I am a bargain shopper through and through. So with quality goods, I end up hesitating until someone buys it for me, or it goes on sale. Too many times to count, I’ve been burned waiting for sales and the item sells out.

Luckily as I’ve aged, I’ve gotten a bit better about recognizing what items I can’t and shouldn’t wait on. We’re going to keep harping on that cost-per-wear because we believe it’s really important when deciding how to spend your hard-earned money. Most of us can’t just throw money around thoughtlessly without going into serious debt. The point is, you don’t need to. You can put some thought into discovering your style and buy items that will fit seamlessly into it.

Suffice to say, Caitlin and I have both been pining away for a tall moto jacket for years. That isn’t saying we’ve never tried to buy one before now. It began when I was working as a sales associate at Express. I found a cute canvas moto jacket that had sleeve snaps to make it ¾ sleeve length. Which it obviously needed to be, because in no way was it cut for a tall woman. As a matter of fact, it was too short just about everywhere; but by gosh, I was going to make it work.

So after a few years of forcing the issue, I spotted a Gap actual tall option. I was elated and snapped it up. The problem was despite it being tall, it still didn’t fit that well. But because it was a step up from the Express option, I was committed to keeping it! The fabric had no stretch in it, so I just had to be sure I didn’t reach for anything too aggressively and rip it. If I stood with my hands at my sides, it would still look normal/cute. The things we do for fashion, right ladies?!

When we heard that Amalli Talli was making a foray into the jacket world, we anxiously held our breath. “Could it be, they’d heard our cries for a moto jacket,” we’d excitedly discuss amongst ourselves. Cut to the release, and our prayers are answered! We soaked in the videos of Amy and Alli discussing the details, noticing that they’d covered every single thing we’d dreamed of for so long. It’s black – check. It’s cut generously in the shoulders – check. It’s made of a comfortable fabric, while still looking chic – check, check. There’s no need to size up to fit the shoulders, therefore, making it look shapeless – check!

They covered all of the bases and then some. As with their other pieces, they’re high quality and will last you forever. Will this jacket ever go out of style? Highly unlikely. Will I ever get uncomfortable wearing it? Not a chance. I’m already planning to wear it all weekend in Philadelphia. A lot of times I avoid bringing certain jackets I own because I will be uncomfortable squeezing into a plane seat with them. It doesn’t even have to be a consideration for this moto jacket. We both got it in size L. While it’s a cozy knit material, there isn’t a ton of give to it. We actually prefer that, because it helps keep its structure looking amazing. So I’d say that’s pretty true to size for us and jackets. We carry some of our weight in our arms and our shoulders are wider than average.

Long story short, I’m throwing out all my other jackets and just moving forward with this one. I see our future together and it is bright! To circle back to tie this in a bow, we’re telling you not to wait on purchasing this jacket. You will NOT regret it, but you will be so sad if the perfect jacket sells out before you can purchase it. Plus, don’t forget we’ve got a 15% off code to help your wallet. Use THEREALTALL15 and snap it up! If you’re wondering how any of their other items fit on us, check the leopard sweater here, the duster here, and the cardigan here. We’ve still got some more items coming to share, and we’ll be remixing them countless ways to show the versatility as well!
